आप में से अधिकतर लोग (UPSC) परीक्षा से परिचित होंगे. UPSC exam को Clear करने के बाद ही देश के सबसे प्रतिष्ठित पदों में शामिल (IAS) पर किसी की नियुक्ति हो सकती है, sawal ye h ki आखिर इस एग्जाम में सैकड़ों स्टूडेंट्स पास होते हैं, लेकिन सब तो आईएएस नहीं बन पाते, आखिर आईएएस मिलने का क्राइटेरिया क्या है, कितने रैंक वालों को आईएएस मिलता है.
अलग-अलग वर्गो में कितने रैंक तक के विद्यार्थी (IAS) बनेंगे यह कई बातों पर निर्भर करता है, लेकिन आमतौर पर अगर औसमत की बात करें
-General category :- 90 rank ke andar tk hona chahiye.
-OBC/EWS:-Approx. 300 rank honi chahiye
-St/SC:- approx. 450 rank tk honi chahiye. अब मान लीजिए टॉप 90 में से 15 कैंडिडेट्स ने जिन्हें IAS मिल सकता था, लेकिन उन्होंने ये नहीं लिया तो 90 के बाद वाले 15 कैंडिडेट्स को यह चुनने का मौका मिलेगा. इसके अलावा आईएएस का मिलना खाली सीटों पर भी निर्भर करता है.

कई लोग जानना चाहेंगे कि आखिर यूपीएससी में रैंकिंग कैसे तय होती है. यूपीएससी हर साल इसकी परीक्षा लेता है.
परीक्षा 3 steps में होती है:-
- 1:- Prelims
- 2:- Mains
- 3:- Interview
Step first:-(Prelims)
1st shift:-. पहला राउंड prelims का होता है.UPSC (prelims) में दो-दो घंटे के 2 पेपर होते हैं। पहला paper general studies का होता है, जिसके अंको के आधार पर cut off तैयार होता है, cut off पार करने वाले उम्मीदवार ही आगे की परीक्षा में बैठ सकते हैं. दूसरा पेपर CSAT, qualifying paper होता है, यानी कि इसमें सिर्फ 33% अंक लाने से उम्मीदवार का काम चल जाता है. जैसे 200 नंबर के paper में 67 नंबर लाना ज़रूरी होता है. खास बात ये है कि अगर candidate ने पहले paper में cut off clear किया है, लेकिन दूसरे में वह qualification number नहीं लाए तो prelims नहीं माना जाएगा.
2nd shift:- isme दोनों पेपर होते हैं. Prelims पास करने के बाद उम्मीदवार मेंस की परीक्षा में बैठ सकते हैं. Prelims पास करने के बाद उम्मीदवार mains की परीक्षा में बैठ सकते हैं.

NOTE:
UPSC candidate मेन्स परीक्षा लिखने के लिए अपने माध्यम का चयन हिंदी या अंग्रेजी या भारतीय संविधान की 8वीं अनुसूची में सूचीबद्ध किसी अन्य भाषा के रूप में कर सकते हैं।
3rd step:- ( Interview)
जो उम्मीदवार आईएएस परीक्षा (मुख्य) में निर्धारित कट-ऑफ अंकों से अधिक अंक प्राप्त करेंगे, उन्हें व्यक्तित्व परीक्षण (आईएएस परीक्षा का अंतिम चरण) के लिए समन भेजा जाएगा।
Candidates who clear the Mains stage of the IAS exam with the required cut-off marks qualify for the final stage of the IAS exam i.e., the Personality Test or Interview round with the UPSC Board Members. The candidates who qualify to the final stage will be sent an e-summon by the Commission for a face-to-face discussion round with the board members. In this round, the board assesses the personality traits of the candidates and questions will be asked on their hobbies, current affairs, general knowledge, situation questions, etc. to evaluate if they are fit for a career in the civil services or not. The UPSC personality test will be held only in the UPSC Bhavan in New Delhi.

IAS Exam Age Limit and Attempts
There are conditions of nationality, age, number of attempts and educational qualification if candidates wish to take the IAS exam. For the general category aspirants, the candidate must be a citizen of India or a PIO, must have a graduate degree, must be between the ages of 21 and 32, and must not have attempted the IAS exam 6 times. But there are certain relaxations and other conditions to the above.
